Good “of the Day” #31: Kids Surprise School Custodian

Thanks to Reshareworthy for this story:

“Mr. Patton is the custodian at a Nashville elementary school and takes pride in keeping it clean and making the kids happy. ‘When I see them smiling it makes my day,’ he says of the kids in the school. He’s always been the unsung hero at  the school but the teachers and students wanted to […]”

Along with other stuff I enjoy that pays the bills (a plus!), I'm a budding nurse comic. I plan, like fake Opthomologist Rand Paul, to create my own professional organization solely so it will grant me a Doctorate. In my case, the org will be something like the AANC (American Association of Nurse Comics), and it will (trust me on this point) agree to make me the first ever DNC: Doctor of Nurse Comedy. I'll keep you posted!

  1. While driving on interstate from California east, a stop at a rest area I saw a ceramic hanger with a bell at the end . Colorful made of ceramic and about 2 feet long with a note card attached. “you have found Ben’s Bell please take it home , hang it , and remember to spread kindness throughout the world ” Web site included , http://www.bensbells.org . Looked up the story, a mother in Tucson lost her son to asthma at a young age and this was a tribute to him , they hang the bells every where.
“kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations.” P Y A woman who belongs to ceramic class is making 10 of them. Hope you find one some day.

  2. During my second year of nursing school , our professor gave us a quiz. I breezed through the questions until I read the last one: “”what is the name of the woman who cleans the school?” Surely this was a joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade. “Absolutely” the professor said. , “in your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say ” hello, ” I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
