Innovative Nursing News: My Unprecedented Experience!

See? INVISIBLE!!!

See? INVISIBLE!!!

True nurse story:

So I was on my way to pick up a patient at work yesterday, to bring them back to the unit…

And I passed some folks in the hallway. When they looked at my apparently empty wheelchair, I told them with a smile:

“Have you heard the news? We’re admitting INVISIBLE PATIENTS now!!! See, see?”

I pointed to the wheelchair I was  pushing, and you know, it seemed almost like they didn’t believe me!

One of them even actually asked if it was finally time for me to get admitted (to the Psych facility in which we all work).

What’s up with that?

As I said, true story – except. I’ll admit, one quote above. Rather accurately quoted, actually, just not quite true. Which one, do you think? 😉

Nurses have such stories to tell!

About Big Red Carpet Nurse (1750 Articles)
Along with other stuff I enjoy that pays the bills (a plus!), I'm a budding nurse comic. I plan, like fake Opthomologist Rand Paul, to create my own professional organization solely so it will grant me a Doctorate. In my case, the org will be something like the AANC (American Association of Nurse Comics), and it will (trust me on this point) agree to make me the first ever DNC: Doctor of Nurse Comedy. I'll keep you posted!

  2. Hi there fantastic website! Does running a blog such as this require a
great deal of work? I have virtually no understanding of programming but I was hoping to start my
own blog soon. Anyways, should you have any recommendations or tips for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject however I simply needed to ask.
    Many thanks!

    • It does take some work; of course most people don’t post nearly as often as I do. I’ve only worked with WordPress, which requires no coding at all, just figuring out your options. It’s a great place to start, and there are millions of blogs here. My advice? Jump in, try things out, ask questions, look at other blogs to see what’s possible – WordPress has a Reader for all the blogs involved. Good luck – Greg

when she was 12, my daughter was at the doctor for some minor surgery. they put her to sleep for all of 10 minutes, did the quick procedure, and she woke up and started joking she was Beyonce. As I’d heard her joke about this before, I thought it was hilarious, but the recovery nurse snapped, “no you’re not.” This interchange went on at least 3 times, until Rhiannon gave up trying to entertain her and until the nurse assessed that she was waking up just fine according to vital signs. We were both sad that she had no sense of humor and was unable to joke with her patient(s). What do you make of that?
